Sewing for a Cause/Making for the Community

Sew Art & Crafty, Students & friends have been assisting in making tiny gowns for Premature Babies.
This cause is close to the heart of many with premature births being experienced in many families. Tutor Jan has herself lost two grandchildren due to premature delivery.
The tiny Gowns are made in various sizes & are then donated to Neo-natal units or other services as required.
Quilts have also been requested for the Special Care Nurseries also. These little quilts will be made by the students & sent to King Edward Memorial Hospital. They are used while the baby is in Hospital & are often sent with Baby when he or she goes home as a memento of their time there so supplies do need to be replenished constantly. Size: 45 x 55cms.
The 2014/15 Bushfire Season has seen many injured Koalas, Kangaroo’s & their Joey’s & other wildlife. In support of this, some Sew Art & Crafty Students got together to Sew Koala Mittens & Pouch Liners for Joeys & other marsupials or to knit the Pouches.
In January, these were sent to IFAW (International Fund for Animal Wildlife for distribution to Australian Wildlife Carers.

Sew Art & Crafty & students are making Toiletry Bags for a local Refuge. These toiletry Bags will enable staff to distribute toiletry items that have been donated via the Essentials for Women South-West program, to those who need them.

The bags are made in a variety of sizes to cater to children as well as women.
